While at Walmart today, an older woman and I struck up a conversation while in the garden center. Later while we were in line, I mentioned that I was new to Florida – week 9 specifically. She commented that I must really be enjoying the weather in FL this time of year rather than in IL. I tried to smile but I said, ‘I like a cold, brisk autumn.’ She smiled and sweetly said, ‘You miss the season changes.’ Then she asked why I moved to Florida. I half heartedly smiled and told her, ‘Obedience to God!’ She laughed with me, smiled even bigger, and said ‘that’s a very good reason!’ Meanwhile, the clerk that had helped me load potting soil into my cart was now ringing up my purchases. He also heard our conversation and said that was a good reason too. He then invited me to his church.
Friends, I just love random conversations! I have no idea why I said what I said, other than there was sweat running down the side of my face when I would rather have a scarf wrapped around my neck drinking hot coffee!
I find it so ironic that God would take this sweater wearing, snow loving, cold weather Midwestern girl and place me in the tropics of South Florida! Obedience isn’t always easy. Trusting God when you are completely out of your element isn’t always easy. But, when you keep doing it, God does amazing things in your life!
Blessings to you my friends from warm, sunny South Florida!

Love! I hear you about missing the cold! I LOVE a Midwestern crisp fall day. I love snow (although the six month long Chicago winters can certainly wear on you!) But Gods plan is always best–even in a hot, humid, sweaty October day! BUT, oh how exciting the first cold front will be!

A ‘kindred’ Midwestern spirit! And yes, Michele, I am always excited when it gets into the 70’s!
